Although performance mode's internal resolution can drop to 1440p, due to PSSR2, it still looks very 4K-like even in the the dense foliage. PSSR2 also helps to significantly close the image quality gap with quality mode, despite its improved visual settings. Base PS5 has the same 2 modes with the same framerate performance, but with lower DRS floors (1080p in performance mode etc) leading to a softer image compared to the equivalent mode on Pro. Base PS5's lack of PSSR2 upscaling also results in issues like more aliasing when panning the camera.
