Disclaimer: As SM2 isn't whitelisted by Sony, it uses PSSR1 by default, so this page still displays PSSR1 metrics. While PSSR2 hasn't been tested with SM2 yet, Mark Cerny (PS5 architect) said Sony's broader testing found no issues in most titles. Only a few suffered from instability in sub-pixel light sources, with 99%+ of the game still improved. Community PSSR2 testing supports this, where at the very least, games are more stable, sharper, and remove PSSR1's film grain-like noise. Therefore, enable PSSR2 by activating 'Enhance PSSR Image Quality' in PS5 system settings, and only revert back if there are major issues.

Base PS5 also has dynamic resolution scaling, but instead uses FSR2 to upscale its modes and have a lower base resolution before upscaling (e.g. 720p for speed mode). The result is a noticeably blurrier image compared to the Pro versions, especially in motion where PSSR excels. Pro also hits 60fps more often, though it's still not ideal as it can fall out of the VRR window.
