While performance mode's lower internal res results in a slightly softer image and a bit more Lumen noise, in practice, the IQ gap between the modes is minimal. Base PS5 has the same 2 modes with the same framerate performance. However, Pro's superior PSSR2 upscaling resolves a sharper, cleaner, and more stable image than base PS5's TSR upscaling. This is to the point that Pro performance mode has slightly better IQ than base PS5 quality mode. Base PS5 performance mode IQ is noticeably the worst, as it doesn't use Lumen reflections, can look very soft, and has the high amount of UE5 boiling/flickering that turn off many gamers from the engine.
