Disclaimer: As RE8 isn't whitelisted by Sony, it uses PSSR1 by default, so this page still displays PSSR1 metrics. While PSSR2 hasn't been tested with RE8 yet, Mark Cerny (PS5 architect) said Sony's broader testing found no issues in most titles. Only a few suffered from instability in sub-pixel light sources, with 99%+ of the game still improved. Community PSSR2 testing supports this, where at the very least, games are more stable, sharper, and remove PSSR1's film grain-like noise. Therefore, enable PSSR2 by activating 'Enhance PSSR Image Quality' in PS5 system settings, and only revert back if there are major issues.
You can actually toggle both RT and HFR on, with the framerate then ranging from from 65fps-90fps. 120fps is not on base PS5, which uses 4K checkerboard rendering (1920x2160) and even then, still can't hold a stable 60fps with RT enabled. PSSR is less sharp compared to base PS5's CBR, but also less noisy, with less artifacting on moving objects like tree branches.
