Modes

prioritize framerate (pro): 1440p DRS to 4K PSSR at a basically locked 60fps. With VRR, usually 80-100fps in demanding scenes and up to 120fps in open play. Same visual quality settings as prioritize graphics mode.

prioritize graphics: 1440p DRS to 4K FSR at a locked, but unevenly paced 30fps, or around 55-65fps with VRR.

prioritize framerate: 900p-1080p DRS to 4K FSR at a basically locked 60fps.

120 hz: 720p DRS to 1080p FSR at a very stable 120fps (a floor of around 110fps during demanding fights). Much worse graphics settings (see extra info).

Extra Information

Disclaimer: As NG4 isn't whitelisted by Sony, it uses PSSR1 by default, so this page still displays PSSR1 metrics. While PSSR2 hasn't been tested with NG4 yet, Mark Cerny (PS5 architect) said Sony's broader testing found no issues in most titles. Only a few suffered from instability in sub-pixel light sources, with 99%+ of the game still improved. Community PSSR2 testing supports this, where at the very least, games are more stable, sharper, and remove PSSR1's film grain-like noise. Therefore, enable PSSR2 by activating 'Enhance PSSR Image Quality' in PS5 system settings, and only revert back if there are major issues.

Prioritize graphics, framerate and 120 Hz modes are also the modes on base PS5. However, Pro can uncap the framerate (base PS5 can't) and will also reach the higher bounds of the DRS more often. Prioritize framerate Pro takes the visual settings of graphics mode, but runs at 60fps+ instead of 30fps. While both of these mode also internally render at 1440p, base PS5 uses FSR to upscale to 4K whereas Pro uses an excellent implementation of PSSR (both modes looks very 4K-like).

The 120 Hz mode has no SSR, missing rain effects, and a far worse draw distance/LODs where many assets like trash bags/rocks don't render at all. It also looks considerably blurrier due to both the lower internal and output resolutions, making it a pointless mode on Pro as its exclusive mode is superior in every way.
