Disclaimer: As MFTG isn't whitelisted by Sony, it uses PSSR1 by default, so this page still displays PSSR1 metrics. While PSSR2 hasn't been tested with MFTG yet, Mark Cerny (PS5 architect) said Sony's broader testing found no issues in most titles. Only a few suffered from instability in sub-pixel light sources, with 99%+ of the game still improved. Community PSSR2 testing supports this, where at the very least, games are more stable, sharper, and remove PSSR1's film grain-like noise. Therefore, enable PSSR2 by activating 'Enhance PSSR Image Quality' in PS5 system settings, and only revert back if there are major issues.
MFTG is a free, beginner-friendly introduction to the world of GT. Basically, an expanded demo with a limited number of cars/racetracks. However, its tech details remain the same as the premium GT7 product.
Unlike base PS5, RT reflections are now available during gameplay. Its excellent implementation is far superior to the cube maps used when RT is disabled. Both TAA and PSSR are available for upscaling and both support RT except for cockpit mode, which is only PSSR. PSSR still looks great, but can can produce additional shimmer/noise in thin objects and artifacting on a few cars compared to TAA. All framerates are locked 99% of the time in gameplay, but replays can drop the framerate more often. Finally, Pro significantly improves motion clarity and image quality in its optional PSVR2 mode.
