Disclaimer: As a whitelisted game, Monster Hunter Wilds uses PSSR2 regardless of whether the 'Enhance PSSR Image Quality' toggle is on/off in the PS5 system settings. You can therefore safely disregard any Pro analysis conducted before March 2026 (or at least hasn't been updated to include PSSR2 testing), as this PSSR1-centered performance discussion no longer applies.
Pro's PSSR1 implementation already improved upon base PS5's FSR1, as the image, though slightly softer, had a lot less aliasing/breakup and more temporal stability. With PSSR2, Pro's image is now sharper (framerate mode is now actually 4K-like), removes PSSR1's noise, and has even less aliasing/breakup. SSR is also more stable with PSSR2, but RT reflections still look better. When comparing the same modes on base PS5, these PSSR2 improvements are most noticeable as internal resolution lowers (down to 720p on base PS5 framerate mode). Pro framerate mode also hits 60fps more often. Though with no LFC, VRR isn't recommended in resolution/balanced modes as they rarely hit 48fps.
