Disclaimer: Digital Foundry reviewed Revelation's reveal trailer and concluded that it looks similar to Rebirth, which isn't surprising. As a similarly-scoped sequel, on a 3-year dev cycle, that's now coming to Series S/Switch 2 on day 1, it makes sense to remain on Unreal Engine 4, and instead focus on concluding the trilogy's story effectively. This means Rebirth's versatility mode (all tech info on the page) provides an excellent baseline of expectations for Revelation's performance, especially as Rebirth got a native PSSR2 update. With 3 more years of UE4 optimization though, it's likely that Revelations achieves slightly higher IQ.
Pro's versatility mode runs at 1224p-1440p DRS to 4K PSSR2 at a very stable 60fps. Pre-March 2026, Pro used PSSR1, which gave versatility mode a sharper image (especially distant detail) than base PS5's 30fps mode, with better SSR and less ghosting/artifacting. However, PSSR1 suffered from some extra noise, instability, and artifacting. Now with PSSR2, these issues have not only been fixed, but the image is even sharper and resolves more texture detail. With PSSR issues resolved, Revelation should therefore provide excellent image quality at launch.
