Disclaimer: As a whitelisted game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard uses PSSR2 regardless of whether the 'Enhance PSSR Image Quality' toggle is on/off in the PS5 system settings. You can therefore safely disregard any Pro analysis conducted before March 2026 (or at least hasn't been updated to include PSSR2 testing), as this PSSR1-centered performance discussion no longer applies.
Base PS5 has the same modes that target the same framerates, but at lower resolutions that upscale via FSR instead of PSSR2 (1080p to 1800p FSR in fidelity mode. 864p to 1440p FSR in performance mode). Prior to March 2026, base PS5's image looked softer, but actually had better foliage/reflections due to Pro's flickering/aliasing and overall unstable PSSR1 implementation. Fortunately, these PSSR1 issues have now been substantially improved with PSSR2 along with an overall much sharper/less noisy image, though still not quite 4K-like. Finally, you can see the differences in the background of the menu when toggling between modes (AO on foliage etc).
