Disclaimer: As Ark: Survival Ascended isn't whitelisted by Sony, it uses PSSR1 by default, so this page still displays PSSR1 metrics. While PSSR2 hasn't been tested with Ark yet, Mark Cerny (PS5 architect) said Sony's broader testing found no issues in most titles. Only a few suffered from instability in sub-pixel light sources, with 99%+ of the game still improved. Community PSSR2 testing supports this, where at the very least, games are more stable, sharper, and remove PSSR1's film grain-like noise. Therefore, enable PSSR2 by activating 'Enhance PSSR Image Quality' in PS5 system settings, and only revert back if there are major issues.

Pro has a 30% FPS increase over base PS5 due to its PSSR implementation. While an improvement, base PS5's framerate hovers at around 30-35fps. Therefore, this 30% increase still won't produce a stable 60fps (will hover around 40-45fps, though can sometimes go over with frame gen) and there's no toggle to lock at 30fps/40fps for stability. Pro also uses UE5's virtual shadow maps over base PS5's cascade shadows for long-range and more accurate shadowing.
